The Agricultural Development Bank( ADB) hosted a special welcome cocktail to celebrate all award winners for this year’s Farmers’ Day National Award of which, Mr. James Obeng Boateng emerged the ultimate winner.

The welcome cocktail was held at the forecourt of the Northern Regional Minister’s residence in Tamale and ADB used the occasion to reinforce its commitment to the spearheading of agricultural financing in the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director of ADB, Dr. John Kofi Mensah indicated that 2019 will be an exciting year for Farmers and Fishers in Ghana.

He said that the Bank had succeeded in strengthening its commitment to its core business of agricultural financing and has therefore established the Agricultural Value Chain department and also established agricultural desk in some of its branches.

“Our commitment to the agriculture sector will be higher next year than this year especially to the governments flagship programme of One District One Warehouse and also Planting for Food and Jobs”, he said.

Dr. Kofi Mensah said the commitment of the Bank to the National Farmers’ Day celebration was a major aspect of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility to the good people of Ghana.

“Our sponsorship which continues to be One Hundred Thousand United State Dollars and the hosting of the cocktail and the National Farmers’ Forum is a clear indication of the importance the Board and Management attaches to the celebration of the National Farmers Day.

The Minister of State at the Ministry of Food & Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Gyiele Nurah commended ADB for showing commitment towards the National Farmers’ Day celebration and urged the award winners to patronize the products and services of the Bank.

He further urged other organizations to emulate the good example of ADB and also invest in the growth of the Ghanaian Farmer and Fisher.

The Welcome Cocktail in celebration of the Farmers’ Day Award is part of other events that precede the main Farmers Day event. The award winners commended ADB for its support towards the National Farmers’ Day Celebration and for also fulfilling their promise each year.
